Research Proposals

Research proposals (requests to conduct research within Lake Zurich CUSD 95) must be created and submitted in the format below. Proposals must be submitted by midnight of the first business day of the month prior to the research start date.

The review process normally takes the entire month. You will receive both a written letter and an e-mail response to your proposal the following month. Please note that schools and teachers may elect not to participate in your research study, even if your proposal is approved at the district level.

Creating/submitting your proposal

  • Please use the numerals and headings provided in the Research Proposal Format, available below.
  • Using Microsoft Word or Adobe pdf. format, submit an electronic version of your proposal. Proposals submitted in both formats will not be accepted.
  • Your proposal must be a single document. All attachments must be appended as a part of the single file. Attachments submitted as separate files will not be accepted.
  • CUSD 95 will not edit nor make changes in a proposal for the researcher.
  • Be concise and selective in order to keep your research proposal as brief as possible while providing the necessary information.
  • Refer to the Department of Curriculum and Instruction webpage for sample Parent Permission Letters, if needed.
  • Degree-seeking Researchers: your proposal must be submitted by your Major Professor (Committee Chair), which indicates his or her endorsement; proposals submitted by graduate student researchers directly will not be accepted.
  • Proposals must be submitted as an email attachment to terry.mootz@lz95.org by midnight on the deadline date listed above.
