Assessment Description - AP

College Board Advanced Placement

Purpose:  The AP exams are taken in May as the measure of student learning in a specific advanced placement course.  These exams are typically a combination of selected and free-response in either essay or problem-solving format.  The score from the AP assessment can be used by colleges and universities to determine if they will grand credit for the course material and allow the student to advance in their college course sequence.  In addition, scores are used by District 95 to ensure continued course alignment and rigor of College Board content standards are being maintained.
